JULY

July 6 - Awahoshi: Crystal Bowl Sound Journey
7:30-9:30pm • $15 adv/$20 day of

Please eat lightly and bring a floor blanket.

This evening will be an opportunity to enter a profound healing and amplification of harmony through sound.

Crystal bowls composed of silicon quartz are highly effective instruments for sound therapy because they produce pure vibrations of the octaves. Through the purity of this tone we are reconnected to our original pattern of harmony. EEG research has revealed that crystal sound activates deep levels of consciousness where profound healing occurs. The harmonics align the etheric and corporeal being into higher frequencies of Knowing.

Awahoshi is an Elder and lineage holder of Crystal Sound. She is a Cheyenne-Slovakian healer/clairvoyant musician who has been recognized by the Native American Hopi Bear and Blue Flute Tribal Elders, Navaho Medicine Keepers, and Mayan Priests as "one who brings circles of Healing to the World." Awahoshi has traveled throughout Europe, Asia, North and Central America working with Homeopathic Doctors, Allopathic Doctors, Psychologists, and in many healing and spiritual study centers. She has a BA in Communication Therapy and an MA in Instructional Technology, both with magna cum laude honors. She is a featured guest on BBC 's Mind/Body and Heaven & Earth shows, Italian national TV series Alternative Medicine and Vivere Bene magazine, Surviving Life video series by the Duchess of York, Free Web TV in Vienna, and NBC Health News in America.

July 9 - Poetry Slam

What is a poetry Slam?

It's competition poetry; meaning humor, politics, enlightenment, sex, entertainment masquerading as literature, literature masquerading as entertainment. Poets will read, then judges will flash Olympic-style scoring to determine who goes on to the next round until there's just one poet left standing as the champion. It's a lot of fun!

Hosted by Matt Mason. Open mic starts at 7:30 followed by the slam; sign up BEFORE 7:30 as signup is limited and will only be allowed after 7:30 if less than 8 are in the slam.

Tonight's slam features a special presentation by the 2011 OM Center Poetry Slam Team!

Crystals are powerful tools technology has been harnessing to create many of the communication advancements we have today, but we can also benefit from their power on a natural and therapeutic level. Our intricately webbed biofield has the innate ability to resonate and interact with these crystals. Crystals act like laser beams - cutting, drawing, and collecting energy from our auric field.

There are hundreds of crystals embedded within the earth; each carries special properties, holds specific intentions, and has the power to cure the energy fields within each of us. If you have been curious about crystal therapy and desire the knowledge to apply crystal therapy in your home or practice, join Chanell in discovering the healing power of crystals. This class will explore 14-21 crystals most commonly used in energy healing, and participants will learn how to perform a basic crystal therapy session. Fee includes handouts and a beginner’s crystal therapy set.

July 23 - Global Peace Day Talk with Guru Mahan
2pm • $FREE

Guru Mahan believes that if everyone in this world observes one minute of silence every day of their lives, the world would become a truly peaceful place to live. His goal is to convince at least 1 percent of the world’s population to observe one minute of silence at 11:11 a.m. every day for the sake of universal peace. In order to spread this message, Guru Mahan is in touch with various world leaders, urging them to designate 11/11/11 as Global Peace Day. He chose this day since such a calendar date happens only once in a millennium. Interestingly, this date also marks the ceasefire of World War I at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, 1918.

As a result of his untiring efforts for Universal Peace, the Malaysian Government has already declared Nov. 11, 2011 as Global Peace Day. A gathering of 11,000 people from all sections of the society, consisting of parliamentarians, doctors, engineers, teachers, and heads of various religious faiths, will assemble in one place to observe silence for one minute at 11:11 a.m. on that day. Through that silence, they vibrate only one thought - peace for the entire world. When other people all around the country also observe silence for one minute during the same time, the subtle waves of peace vibration can spread to all the nations across the globe.

Guru Mahan will visit from India to speak about this peace movement on Nov. 11, 2011. The talk is open to everyone; he is also interested in speaking with leaders, teachers, yoga teachers, and others who are interested in passing this information along.

Jagath Guru Maha Maharshi Paranjothiyar, fondly referred to as Guru Mahan, is the founder of Universal Peace Foundation in India. His sole mission is to promote “universal peace through individual (inner) peace.” A grand master of yoga and kundalini meditation, Guru Mahan has both personally and through his ashram in Thirumoorthy Hills helped thousands of people learn and benefit from practicing kundalini yoga and meditation.
