Deborah Adele is the author of the groundbreaking book
The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice.

Saturday: What Shapes Our Practice (12:30 - 6 PM)
Being aware of yoga history and the lens through which the West interprets yoga, raises some interesting questions about our individual practice and the collective shaping of yoga in the West. After looking at an overview of yoga history, texts, and themes as well as our own conditioning, we will ask the question, “So what difference does this make?”

Sunday: Finding Freedom (9:30-5:30)

All yoga philosophy is based on the premise that we suffer and there is a way out of suffering. To truly understand our bondage to suffering fills us with devotion to our practice; devotion to our practice leads us to liberation. We will explore what the Yoga Sutra has to say about suffering, liberation, and the role of the mind. Then we will look at what the Bhagavad-Gita, Tanta, and Meditation have to say about being “in the world, but not of it”.
Deborah Adele is the author of two CDs "The Art of Relaxation" and "The Practice of Meditation." She holds master’s degrees in both Liberal Studies and Theology & Religion. As an ERYT500, she carries yoga certifications in Kundalini yoga, Hatha yoga, Yoga Therapy, and Meditation. She is also trained as a Gestalt practitioner and a Somatics educator.
