Vinyasa Yoga
with Libba Harmon

Mon/Thurs 5:30-7:00pm • Tues/Wed 12:00-1:15pm
Drop-in • $15

Vinyasa is a steady dynamic flow of connected yoga asanas linked with breathwork in a continuous movement

Libba Harmon, certified yoga teacher and licensed acupuncturist, found yoga in the early 90's, during her days as aThai Boxer. When she decided to become a lover-not-a-fighter, Libba spent some time kicking around NYC, looking for some good asana. Being a downtown gal, Libba enjoyed the East Village yoga of years past, made sure to get in on some great visiting masters, andtaught at several downtown studios until the day she moved to Omaha, where she blossomed a busy acupuncture practice and brought sweaty NYC vinyasa to the midwest set. Libba recently spent 2 years living in Panama, where she launched Rancho Kula, a yoga/surf retreat business. Libba's style has grown into a challenging hybrid of alignment-based and playful vinyasa, with periodic opportunity to tone it down considerably. . . here or there, you might catch her teaching a slower, lower practice.

It's competition poetry; meaning humor, politics, enlightenment, sex, entertainment masquerading as literature, literature masquerading as entertainment. Poets will read, then judges will flash Olympic-style scoring to determine who goes on to the next round until there's just one poet left standing as the champion. It's a lot of fun!

Jan. 21 - FREE Workshop & Talk with Q&A
with David Scott Lynn
1:30-3pm • PLEASE RSVP!

Does Your BodyMind do what you want it to do?

What has pain and dysfunction cost you?
New Ways of Understanding Pain, Bad Posture, and Limited Movement
INCLUDING what to do about it!

OPEN TO EVERYONE - General public, Practitioners of Massage, Yoga, Coaching, PTs, and more!

David Scott Lynn, founder and developer of DSL Edgework, will present a FREE TALK on how and why muscles tighten and stay tight, and the principles of relaxing chronically tense muscles. Also described in some detail are a wide variety of symptoms and conditions that can be directly or indirectly caused by chronic muscle tension and stress. These conditions include arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, "slipped" or herniated spinal discs, fibromyalgia, headaches, dizziness, and digestive problems.

A strong focus will be on posture and how it reflects where our tensions are, helping determine what muscles to release. Bad posture often comes from long hours sitting at desks, in car seats, on couches, or trauma. One partial mythology addressed in the talk will be how abdominal strengthening exercises often cause, rather than help, bad posture, bulging waistlines, bulging discs, and a painful back, neck or shoulders. According to David, "pain management and better posture are about lengthening and balancing overly tight muscles, not strengthening the allegedly 'weak' muscles."

DSL Edgework is a unique and effective system of Hands-On Bodywork and Therapeutic Stretching developed by David Scott Lynn over 25 years. David has trained therapists, including massage and neuromuscular therapists, physical therapists and chiropractors. His work is widely acknowledged as cutting edge, providing insights and techniques helping a wide range of conditions.

Suman Barkhas (E-RYT 500 + Yoga Alliance Experienced Registered Yoga Instructor) is a formal yoga monk and
certified yoga therapist. He has more than 30 years of experience in yoga practice with 20 years of teaching; he is an active member of the International Yoga Therapy Association, director of Tai Chi-Yoga Center of the Holistic Healing Institute, and a master instructor of "Moving for Better Balance" Tai Chi, as well as an accomplished QiGong instructor.
