Creation: Sand Mandala Opening

TUESDAY, July 17 • 7pm • Donation

DAILY VIEWING: July 18-28, 1-5pm • Donation

Watch the team of Monks recreate an ancient tradition by building a Sacred Sand Painting dedicated to the Medicine Buddha, Menla – healer of inner and outer illnesses. Viewing this detailed Mandala opens the mind and awakens the spirit. When a Mandala is built of sand, the goodness that it brings is multiplied by the number of grains of sand that it contains. Stop by daily to see the mandala evolve.

Chay Drol: Clearing Obstacles

WEDNESDAY, July 18 • 7pm • $20 ADV/$25 at door

This powerful ritual helps remove obstacles that prevent one from achieving enlightenment. The Lama places colored strings and fabric (ritually fused to represent obstacles) on participants. The obstacles are cut using Weapons of Wisdom, opening the door to liberation, wisdom, and achieving your goals.

Healing for Healers

FRIDAY, July 20 • 7pm • $25 ADV/$30 at door

Join us for our traditional Healing for Healers. This ritual cleansing by Vajravidharan, the Buddha of Purification, removes negativity and its subtle imprints, bringing clarity of body, mind, and spirit. Especially beneficial to those in the healing arts, this ritual is open to everyone.

Medicine Buddha Empowerment

SATURDAY, July 21 • 7pm • $25 ADV/$30 at door

This is a blessing for good health, awakening the innate healing wisdom that lies within us all. This mantra helps heal the body and mind, gently transforming emotional states, helping us to deal with any situation clearly and directly. It promotes peace, calm, and tranquility in your heart.

Monk Life

SUNDAY, July 22 • 2pm • $10 ADV/$15 at door

This fascinating talk is a rare glimpse into daily life at the Monastery. The monks share a slice of their life through slides, stories, lively dialectic debate, resonant deep chanting, and Q & A.

Traditional Tea Ceremony

TUESDAY, July 24 • 7pm • $15 ADV/$20 at door

The monks end their day with this warm, chanted ceremony reminding us to be grateful for blessings overflowing - literally. Participants may bring a wish or request for any kind of blessing. The ceremony will be followed by a brief, silent meditation.

Manjushri Wisdom Empowerment

THURSDAY, July 26 • 7pm • $25 ADV/$30 at door

Manjushri is the embodiment of the wisdom of all the Buddhas. Wisdom is crucial for enlightenment. It is both the antidote of ignorance, and at the same time, it’s the true meaning of selflessness/emptiness. Performing the practice of Manjushri accelerates the attainment of the knowledge that eliminates suffering. By “sipping the nectar” of the profound teachings delivered by Manjushri, one has access to the heart of liberating wisdom.

Impermanence: Sand Mandala Closing

SATURDAY, July 28 • 7pm • $10 adult/$5 kids 5-12

The meditative Mandala practice culminates with a closing ceremony and the destruction of the Mandala, signifying the transience of life. Be a part of this traditional ceremony of compassion and blessings. Participants receive a small piece of the Mandala.

Water Blessing of the Sand Mandala

SUNDAY, July 29 • 9:30am

Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge

After the mandala is swept up, the remaining blessed sand is deposited into the nearest body of water to spread healing and blessings.
